Deductive reasoning

Deductive reasoning(Rule reasoning)

Definition

Deductive reasoning uses rules, definitions, or necessary relationships to reach a conclusion. If the premises are true and the argument is valid, the conclusion must be true — there is no maybe about it.

Memory hook

Deduction = rule-based certainty.

What it sounds like

  • By definition…
  • If that's true, then this must be true.
